Actual Installation

Located near the beach and near the Mexican border in San Diego, California, this home is currently being remodeled for the new owners.  During the purchase the seller was identified as a violent felon previously incarcerated for forgery and attempted murder - the buyers expressed serious concerns about the safety of themselves and their new home and Pyrran not only changed the locks within moments after the keys changed hands, we also house-sat for the first two weeks and installed a temporary surveillance system and Internet connection that allowed the owners, living in Ventura, to monitor the house when away and to stay connected with their busy lives when present at the house to direct the remodel progress.  This connectivity was achieved without a telephone line, DSL, or cable Internet connection.

Although temporary, the surveillance system has proven invaluable to the new owners and after completion of the remodel, a permanent installation will take place along with the integration of other features such as alarm, access control, “smart home”, and whole-house audio, video, and computer components.  In addition, another system will be installed at their original home in Ventura to provide monitoring of it after they locate permanently to the home in San Diego.

Hardly larger than a library book, this directional antenna provides a wireless network connection with the owners’ son’s house about two blocks away.  The network inside the house mimics the network two blocks away so both families can use wireless computers without changing connection information.

The network is configured to use the latest WPA encryption and authentication to prevent others from using it or seeing the data traveling across the link.

Virtually invisible on the eve of the house (no one has noticed on their own in six months) this small, weatherproof, black and white camera provides over 600 lines of resolution with a 0.0003 LUX level.  In English: it provides a commanding view of the front of the garage, the hedges on the right, and everything in between including the driveway and across the street, even on a dark moonless night.  It is also considerably smaller and less expensive when compared to most high-resolution, low light camera packages.
