Lock Picking and Key Generation

It is not unusual for keys to be lost for a house, a business, or a vehicle.  Be prepared to show identification when the locksmith arrives.

There are many ways to get past locks but in the case of a lost key it is usually necessary to pick or impression the lock instead of damaging it because the locksmith will need to match the rest of the locks around the house or vehicle with a replacement key that fits.

Picking locks can be difficult on better brands and systems such as Schlage and Medeco but not impossible.  Unlike duplicating an existing key with a key grinder - generating a new key from scratch can require very specialized equipment.

Among other tools, Pyrran uses a computerized “code cutting” key machine.  This allows us to decode a lock and cut a brand new key to factory specifications based on that code - this provides the customer with a “pure” key.

In the case of most modern vehicles, key generation can be very difficult.  Both domestic and foreign auto manufacturers now use “transponder” keys that have a coded chip inside them.  If you have locked your keys in your car, Pyrran can open the car and retrieve your keys but we can only duplicate or generate automotive keys for about 80% of vehicles at this time.
